Clinical analysis

Clinical analysis

A clinical analysis or laboratory test consists of complementary tests requested from the laboratory by a doctor. It is an analysis in order to obtain information about the health of a patient or to establish a diagnosis or a treatment.

The Clinical Analysis Laboratory at Hospital Dr. Gálvez offers a diagnostic support service with the ongoing highest technical and human quality. It provides an internal service, handling the requests of all the hospital’s specialities.

In order to respond to the requests from the different specialities, the centre has the most advanced resources, hence covering a wide range of biological magnitudes. Among the main types of analysis performed at the centre, we can highlight:

  • Pathological Anatomy
  • Clinical Biochemistry
  • Cytogenetics
  • Forensic Genetics (Paternity Studies)
  • Biology and Molecular Genetics
  • Haematology
  • Immunology and Radioimmunoanalysis (Hormones and tumour markers)
  • Microbiology and Parasitology
  • Toxicology

Tests also carried out at our facilities:

Non-invasive prenatal determination of the Rh group and the fetal gender in maternal plasma.

Through a maternal blood test, today it is possible to find out the gender of the baby and the Rh group from the tenth week of pregnancy.

It is a pioneering test that allows parents to find out whether they are expecting a boy or a girl through the analysis of the fetal DNA in the mother’s blood plasma. It also allows for the early detection of diseases related with the gender of the baby through non-invasive procedures.

It is also an essential method for fetal Rh diagnosis in cases in which the mother has RH negative and it may cause a problem of incompatibilities with an RH positive fetal.

Food Intolerance Test

Health problems, such as headaches or stomach-aches,  diarrhoea, excess weight, chronic tiredness, skin problems and even inflammation of the joints may be down to the intake of certain foods that our organism does not tolerate. We may have food intolerance to such common components of our daily diet as milk, eggs, carbohydrates, etc. without knowing it.

The food tolerance test is based on a simple blood test, which enables the reaction of the patient’s antibodies to over 200 types of food to be analysed and identify those that are rejected. Furthermore, the patient is given a medical interpretation of the results, defining precisely which food should be eliminated and the most suitable diet for the patient to remain in perfect health.
