Angiology and Vascular Surgery

The team of professionals in the Angiology and Vascular Surgery Unit at Dr. Gálvez Hospital is responsible for the study, diagnosis and treatment of all diseases affecting the circulatory system (arteries and veins).

Using non-invasive diagnosis (Echo-Doppler Test), we carry out an individual assessment of the patient for the subsequent application of the most suitable treatment, which may be conservative or surgical, using the latest minimally invasive therapeutic techniques.

The portfolio of services offered by the Hospital in this speciality includes: Aesthetic, medical and surgical treatment of varicose veins

The appropriate treatment in each case will be determined according to the characteristics of the patient, the location and type of varicose veins, offering and using the most advanced therapeutic techniques. Arterial Problems: arteriosclerosis, aneurysms, carotid artery disease

Arteriosclerosis and aneurysms are the most common problems affecting the arteries. The former is the hardening of the medium and large arteries leading to the occlusion of blood flow, whilst the latter dilates or widens the artery walls. Venous Thrombosis

It is blood coagulation during circulation, which forms a clot that prevents blood circulation and causes venous thrombosis.

Clots may occur in the arteries and in the veins, but they are more common in the venous vessels, particularly in veins in the legs.

Although the cause is usually unknown, an individual study can detect the specific cause. Deep Vein Thrombosis

A blood clot forms in a deep vein. It mainly affects large veins in the lower leg and thigh.

A coagulation or clot in a deep vein can break loose and travel through the bloodstream to an artery in the lungs and block circulation. This medical condition is called a pulmonary embolism.

Pulmonary embolism is a very serious health problem. Therefore, treatment is aimed at preventing pulmonary embolism and its side-effects. Superficial Venous Thrombosis

Superficial venous thrombosis (SVT) is a clot in a vein in the superficial system which is accompanied by a perivenous inflammatory reaction, far more intense than in deep vein thrombosis (DVT). It is a common condition. Edema, lymphedema, fluid retention Edema is the swelling caused by abnormal fluid retention in your body. The fluid accumulates under the skin in the tissues that are outside the circulatory system (the system that carries blood through the body). Edemas normally occur in feet and legs. An individual study must be carried out to establish the appropriate treatment.
